で「彼らはみんな第二次世界大戦中に大学を出て、その後、そのほとんどが戦争に行きました。そして、私たちが追跡調査した２つめのグループは、ボストンの最貧地区の少年たちのグループでした。」という意味になります。

They all finished college during World War II, で「彼は全員、大学を出た、第二次世界大戦中に」です。
finish college で「大学を出る、卒業する」という意味の言い回しです。
graduate college とも言い換えられます。
World War II で「第二次世界大戦」です。WW2 と略されることも多いです。

and then「そしてその後、」
most went off to serve in the war. で「そのほとんどが、出かけていった、従軍するために」です。
most が主語になります。most of them「その学生たちのほとんど」の略と考えるとしっくりきます。
このように most, many, few, a third などの数量詞の後の名詞が省略されるパターンはよく目にします。
他にも、some, those なども同じパターンです。
慣れていないと読解の中で混乱を招くこともあるのでよく理解しておきましょう。

serve は「奉仕する」です。ここでは軍隊に奉仕で「従軍する」という意味になります。
例：serviceman「軍人」

And「そして」
the second group that we’ve followed で「第二のグループ、私たちが追跡調査してきた」です。
follow は「後を追う、追跡調査する」です。
前回出てきた track の言い換えですね。

was a group of boys で「は～だった、少年たちのグループ」です。
どんな少年たちかというと、
boys from Boston’s poorest neighborhoods, で「ボストンの最貧地区出身の（少年たち）」です。
poorest neighborhoods で「最貧地区」です。
neighborhood で「近所、近隣」です。
複数の -s がついて「（都市・町の中の一つの）地域、区域」という意味になります。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

彼らは皆

finished college
大学を出た

during World War II,
第二次世界大戦中に

and then
そしてその後

most
そのほとんどが

went off to serve in the war.
戦争に出兵した
