ロバートJ.ウォルディンガー氏によるTEDでのスピーチ「人生を幸せにするのは」です。

The people in our 75-year study who were the happiest in retirement were the people who had actively worked to replace workmates with new playmates. Just like the millennials in that recent survey, many of our men when they were starting out as young adults really believed that fame and wealth and high achievement were what they needed to go after to have a good life.

The people in our 75-year study who were the happiest in retirement までが主語です。
The people in our 75-year study「私たちの75年の研究の中の人々」です。
研究対象者のことですね。
(who) ~「~な人々」
were the happiest in retirement で「引退後にもっとも幸せだった(人々)」です。
in retirement で「引退している、引退後である」という意味の言い回しです。
例:I’m bored in retirement.「隠居生活で飽き飽きしている。」

were the people who ~
で「は、~な人々だ」です。
どんな人かというと、
(who) had actively worked to ~ で「積極的に~しようと取り組んでいた」
replace workmates with new playmates で「仕事仲間を新しい遊び仲間に置き換える」です。
replace ~ with … で「~を…に置き換える」です。

Just like ~「~とちょうど同じように」
the millennials in that recent survey,「あの最近の調査でのミレニアル世代と」
that recent survey はこのスピーチ冒頭で紹介された研究のことです。
ミレニアル世代とは、
1980年前後から2005年頃にかけて生まれた世代。10代からデジタル環境になじんだ初の世代です。

many of our men で「私たちの男性たちの多く」です。
our men は何度も出てきましたが The Harvard Study of Adult Development の調査対象者の724人の男性たちを指しています。

when they were starting out as young adults で「彼らがヤングアダルトとして世に出始めた時に」です。
start out で「(初めから)始める、(旅などに)出発する、乗り出す」です。
young adult は年齢層をあらわす言葉です。
10代後半、または~20代くらいまでとのことなので「青年、若年層」あたりになるかと思います。
略称でYAとしたります。
例:young adult novel「青少年向け小説」

really believed (that) ~ で「~であると強く信じていた」

どう信じていたかというと、
(that) fame and wealth and high achievement were ~ で「名声と富と好業績が~である(と)」
what they needed to go after で「彼らが追い求める必要のあるもの」
go after ~ で「~を追い求める」という意味になります。
pursue パー[ス]ーとも言い換えられます。
to have a good life. で「いい暮らしをするために」です。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
