で「多言語を話すことの認知的な利点については、これまでに膨大な数の論文が発表されてきました。会話の幅が広がるということにとどまらず、多言語話者は「実行機能」までも高めるとされています。そして、最も大きな恩恵を受けているのは、第二言語を本当の意味で使いこなしている人たちです。そしてその背景には、彼らがその言語を、長い年月をかけて、ほぼ毎日のように使い続けてきたという事実があります。」という意味になります。

Reams of papers で「大量の論文」です。
ream リームは「連」という意味で、紙の量の単位を表し紙500枚の束を指します。
reams of ～ で「膨大な枚数の～」という意味です。
papers はここでは「研究論文」という意味になります。
例：science paper「科学論文」
have been published で「発刊されてきた、発表されてきた」です。
on the cognitive advantages of ～「～の認知的な利点について（の論文）」です。
cognitive [コ]グニティヴで「認知の、認識の」という意味の形容詞。
(advantages of) multilingualism. で「多言語使用の利点」です。
advantage は「アドバンテージ、利点、長所、優位性」

Beyond ～「～を超えて」
the conversational doors (that) it can open,「それが開くことができる会話的な扉（を超えて）」
it は multilingualism を指しています。
multilingualism supposedly improves ～ で「多言語使用は一般的には～を高めるとされている」です。
supposedly で「一般的には（～するとされる）」です。
(improves) executive function. で「実行機能（を向上させる）」です。
executive function とは、目標達成のために思考や行動を計画、実行、調整する認知機能です。

The biggest benefits 「その最大の恩恵は」
seem to come to those who ～「～する人に訪れるようだ」です。
(who) master their second languages fully. で「自分の第二言語を完全に使いこなす（人たち）」です。
master ～ で「～をマスターする」ですが、ここでは「～を使いこなす」です。

in turn「つまりは、結局は、結果として」
is usually because ～「大抵は～という理由があるからだ」
they have spoken them「その人たちが自分の第二言語を話してきた」
them は their second languages を指しています。
