で「私たちは初期のころ、マスコミに好かれていなかった。というのも、彼らは私たちを正確に捉えることができなかったからだ。そして、それはツェッペリンについても同じだった。」という意味になります。

We were disliked by the press で「私たちはマスコミに嫌われていた」です。
we はフレディーマーキュリーのバンド Queen のこと。
dislike ～ で「～を嫌う」
the press は「マスコミ、記者たち」という意味です。
press の語源は、印刷のプレス機からで、新聞・雑誌がマスメディアだった時代の名残ですね。
in the early days で「（バンドが活動し出した）最初のころ」です。
because ～「なぜなら～」
they couldn’t put their finger on us, で「彼らは私たちを正確に捉えることができなかった（から）」です。
they は the press を指しています。
put one’s finger on ～ で「（何なのか）～を正確に把握する」という意味のイディオムです。
例：She looks familiar, though I can’t put my finger on where I’ve seen her before.「彼女、見覚えがあるんだけど、どこで会ったのか思い出せない。」
, and ～「そして～」
that was the case with Zeppelin as well. で「それはツェッペリンも同様だった」です。
that was the case で「それは同じくそうだった」という意味の言い方。
the case はここでは「事実、当てはまること」という意味です。
例：If you don’t have a ticket, you can’t get in. That’s the case for everyone.「チケットがないと入れません。それは誰にでも当てはまります。」

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
