で「人は、かつての優れた教師たちには感謝の念をもって振り返るが、人間的な感情に触れてくれた教師たちには、より深い感謝の気持ちを抱く。カリキュラム（授業内容）は確かに必要な原材料だが、成長する植物にとっても、子どもの魂にとっても、本当に大切なのは温かさ（思いやり）である。」という意味になります。

One looks back to ～ で「人は～を振り返る、思い出す」です。
one はここでは「（一般的な）人」という意味です。
with appreciation で「ありがたいと思う気持ちを持って」です。
動詞形は appreciate アプ[リ]ーシエイトゥで「真価を認める、高く評価する」です。
to the brilliant teachers, で「優秀な教師を（振り返る）」です。
brilliant は「きらきらと輝く」という意味から、人に対して使うと「才気あふれる、優秀な、明晰な」という意味になります。
, but ～「しかし～」
with gratitude to those who ～ で「～する者には、より深い感謝を持って（振り返る）」です。
but の後には、(looks back) が繰り返しになるため省略されています。
gratitude は「感謝の気持ち、恩義」です。
appreciation が、価値があったと高く評価する気持ちであるのに対して、
gratitude は純粋な感謝の気持ち、恩義という意味です。
(those who) touched our human feelings. で「私たちの人情に触れた（者たち）」です。
つまり、生徒に人情を持って接してくれた教師、ですね。

The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, で「カリキュラムは、必要な原材料にすぎない」です。
so は「とても～な」というポジティブな意味で覚えている人も多いかと思いますが、元意は「～するほどまで」です。
【程度・限度】を表して「その程度まで」という意味合い。
ここでは、必要ではあるが単なる原材料の域を出ない、という意味合いです。

warmth is the vital element で「温かみは不可欠な要素である」
for the growing plant「育成中の植物にとっても」
and for the soul of the child.「子供たちの魂にとっても」です。
vital は「不可欠な」という意味の形容詞で、先程の necessary「必要な」と対応しています。
植物にとっての warmth は「温度」で、literal（文字通り）の意味ですが、
子供たちにとっての warmth は「心の温かみ」で、figurative（比喩的）な意味になっています。
ちなみに the child と単数形が使われていますが、これは子ども全体を代表したものです。
一般概念を表す総称の the（generic the）の用法で「～というもの」という意味になります。
例：The teacher plays an important role in society.「教師というものは社会の中で重要な役割を担っている。」
