で「隠喩（メタファー）は、おそらく人間が持つ力の中でも最も豊かな創造力である。その効力は魔法に近く、まるで神が人間を創ったとき、創造のための道具を、その被造物の内にうっかり残してしまったかのように思える。」という意味になります。

The metaphor is perhaps「隠喩（メタファー）は多分～だ」
the most fruitful power of man.「人間の最も実りの多い力だ」です。
metaphor は「隠喩」です。
比喩表現（figurative expression）のひとつです。
比喩表現の種類は以下のようなものがあります。
├ 直喩 (simile)
├ 暗喩 (metaphor)
├ 擬人法 (personification)
└ 誇張法 (hyperbole)
metaphor は以下のような比喩です。
例：He is a lion.「彼はライオンのように勇ましい。」

Its efficacy verges on magic,「その効能は魔法に匹敵する」です。
efficacy は「（薬などの）効能、効果」
verge on ～ で「～にほとんど等しい、～に近づく」です。
verge は名詞では「境界線、瀬戸際、寸前」、動詞では「～に接する、境界にある」という意味です。
, and ～「そして～」
it seems a tool for creation「それは創造のための道具のように思える」です。
which God forgot inside ～「～の中に神が忘れた（道具）」
(inside) one of His creatures で「彼の創造物の内のひとつ（の中に）」です。
つまり man「人間」のことですね。
creature は「（神が創造した）生き物、動物」という意味です。
His は「神」を指しています。神を表す代名詞は常にイニシャライズ（一文字目を大文字に）されます。
when He made him. で「神がその生物を作った時に」です。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
