で「おもちゃを梱包箱から取り出す時たくさんのごみが出がちだ。とてもエコフレンドリーとは言えない。箱から取り出すとき、おもちゃ本体よりもビニールや段ボールなどから出るごみの方が多くなることもある。しかしそれを変えようという動きがある。おもちゃメーカーの中には、環境にやさしい一連の取り組みでエコフレンドリーな会社になると発表しているところもある。」という意味になります。

Taking a toy out of the box can make a mess. で「おもちゃを箱から取り出すことは、ごちゃごちゃになりやすい」です。
take ～ out of … で「…から～を取り出す」という意味の言い回しです。
make a mess で「ごちゃごちゃにする、散らかす」という意味のイディオム。
mess は「ごちゃまぜ、ごちゃごちゃ」という意味の名詞です。
例：mess of papers「散乱した書類」

Hardly eco-friendly, で「ほとんどエコフレンドリーではない」です。
hardly は「ほとんど～でない」という意味の副詞です。
eco の発音は[イ]ーコウとなりますので注意しましょう。

the process can yield ～ で「その工程は～を産出することもある」です。
the process とは「おもちゃを箱から出すまでの工程」のことです。
yield は「産出する、～を生み出す」という意味の動詞です。
例：yield a good result「よい結果を出す」、yield a profit「利益を出す」

何を出すのかというと、
more clutter from plastic and cardboard で「より多くのごみの山を、プラスチックや段ボールからの」です。
clutter も mess に近い意味の名詞で「散乱物、ガラクタの山、乱雑、混乱」です。
plastic は「プラスチック、ビニール」です。
日本では固いプラスチックをイメージしがちですが、英語ではペラペラのビニールやラップなども含んで plastic と言います。
例：plastic bag「ビニール袋」、plastic kitchen wrap「（食品用）ラップ」
than the actual toy で「実際のおもちゃ以上に」です。
玩具自体よりもごみの方が多く出る、ということですね。

But there are moves to change that で「しかしそれを変えようする動きがある」です。

as ～ で「～する中で、～しつつ」というい接続詞になります。

some toy manufacturers say (that) ～ で「玩具メーカーの中には～と言うものもいる」です。

何と言っているかというと、
they’re going green with a series of environmentally friendly initiatives. で「自分たちメーカーも環境を意識するようになっている、エコフレンドリーな一連の取り組みで」です。
they とは　toy manufacturers を指しています。
go green で「環境を意識するようになる」という意味の慣用句です。
with a series of ～ で「一連の～で」です。
environmentally friendly initiatives で「環境にやさしい取り組み」です。
initiative は「主導権、先制」という意味もありますが、この場合のように「率先した取り組み、新しい取り組み、自発的な取り組み」という意味でもよく使われます。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
