Kneeling for the anthem は「国歌斉唱に対して片膝をつくこと」です。
kneel [ニ]ーォ で「ひざまづく」という意味の動詞になります。
これはどういうことかというと、米国のNFLで2016年ごろから人種的不公平に抗議する意味で国歌斉唱時に片膝をつく選手が続出したことを受けてのことです。

plight プ[ラ]イトゥは「ひどいありさま、窮状、苦境」です。
