Instead, I’m here to tell you finding your purpose isn’t enough. The challenge for our generation is creating a world where everyone has a sense of purpose. One of my favorite stories is when John F Kennedy visited the NASA space center, he saw a janitor carrying a broom and he walked over and asked what he was doing. The janitor responded: “Mr. President, I’m helping put a man on the moon”.

The janitor responded: “Mr. President, I’m helping put a man on the moon”.
で「その代わりに、今日わたしは、目的を見つけるだけでは十分ではないと皆さんに伝えたいんです。僕たちの世代の課題は、誰もが目的意識を持てるような世界をつくることなんです。僕のお気に入りの話のひとつがあります。ジョン・F・ケネディ大統領がNASAの宇宙センターを訪れたときのことです。彼はほうきを持った清掃員を見かけて近づいていき、何をしているんですか？と尋ねました。すると清掃員はこう答えたんです。『大統領、私は人類を月に送り出す手伝いをしているんですよ。』と。」という意味になります。

Instead,「代わりに～、それよりむしろ～、それどころか～」
I’m here to tell you (that) ～「私は～と言うことを皆さんに伝えようとここにいます」です。
(that) finding your purpose isn’t enough. で「自分の目的を見つけることでは不十分（だと）」です。

The challenge for our generation is ～ で「我々の世代にっての課題は～だ」
creating a world where ～ で「～な世界を創り出すこと」です。
どんな世界かというと、
(where) everyone has a sense of purpose. で「みんなが目的意識を持っている（世界）」です。

One of my favorite stories is ～「私のお気に入りの話のひとつは～だ」
when John F Kennedy visited the NASA space center, で「ジョン・F・ケネディ大統領がNASA宇宙センターを訪れたとき」
he saw a janitor carrying a broom で「大統領はほうきを持った用務員に会った」です。
janitor [ジャ]ニターは「建物の管理人、用務員」という意味の名詞です。
and ～「そして～」
he walked over and asked ～「大統領は歩いて行って～と尋ねた」
(asked) what he was doing. で「彼が何をしているのか（と尋ねた）」

The janitor responded:「その用務員は返答した」
“Mr. President,「大統領」
I’m helping put a man on the moon”.「私は人を月に送るのを手伝っているんです」です。
help do ～ で「～するのを手伝う」という意味の言い回しになります。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

Instead,
それよりむしろ

I’m here to tell you
私は～と伝えるためにここにいます

finding your purpose isn’t enough.
目的を見つけるだけでは不十分だと

The challenge for our generation is
我々世代にとっての課題は～

creating a world where
～な世界を創ることです

everyone has a sense of purpose.
誰もが目的意識を持っている（世界を）

One of my favorite stories is
お気に入りの話のひとつで～というのがあります

when John F Kennedy visited the NASA space center,
ジョン・F・ケネディ大統領がNASAの宇宙センターを訪れたとき

he saw a janitor carrying a broom
彼はホウキを持った用務員がいるのを見ました

and he walked over and asked
彼は歩み寄って尋ねました

what he was doing.
何をしているのかと

The janitor responded:
用務員は答えました

“Mr. President, I’m helping put a man on the moon”.
大統領、私は人類を月に送るのを手伝っています

今度は「頭の中で」一行ずつ日本語に訳しながら…
