で「NASAの火星探査機ローバー・キュリオシティが、火星のクレーターを探査しているときに女性の様なものを撮影した。」という意味になります。
Nasa's Curiosity Rover はNASAの探査ローバー（愛称Curiosity）のことです。
took a picture while exploring a crater on Mars で「火星のクレーターを探査中に写真を撮った」となります。
take a picture は決まり文句で「写真を撮る」ですね。
Mars は「火星」です。
惑星をおさらいしておきましょう。
水星 Mercury
金星 Venus
地球 Earth
火星 Mars
木星 Jupiter
土星 Saturn
天王星 Uranus
海王星 Neptune
冥王星 Pluto
while ～ing で「～している最中に、～中に」という意味です。
captured what appears to be a woman で「女性らしきものを写真に捉えた」です。
capture は「捕らえる、捕獲する、獲得する」という意味ですが、この場合は「写真にとらえる、映像に残す」という意味です。
what appears to be a woman で「女性らしきもの」という意味になります。
what appears to be ～ で「～らしきもの」という意味です。
例：what appears to be a gun「銃らしきもの」
ニュース記事などで、不確定な情報を報道するときによく使われる言い回しですね。
それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
