で「数百マイル離れて、オハイオ州のデイトンで、オーヴィルとウィルバー・ライトは、成功の秘訣と思えるものは何一つ持っていませんでした。お金もありません。彼らは自分たちの夢のために家業の自転車店の収益を充てていました。」という意味になります。

A few hundred miles away で「数百キロ離れて」という意味になります。
この場合は、前回のサミュエル・ピアポント・ラングレーのいる場所から数百キロ離れたところに、という意味です。
in Dayton, Ohio で「オハイオ州のデイトンに」です。

Orville and Wilbur Wright で「オーヴィル・ライトとウィルバー・ライト」です。いわゆるライト兄弟ですね。
他に3人の兄妹がいた中の三男・四男でした。

they had none of what we consider to be the recipe for success. で「彼らは、私たちが成功のレシピと考えるものを何一つ持っていなかった」となります。
none of what ～ で「～するものの中、どれ一つない」です。
what we consider ～ で「私たちが～だと見なしているもの」です。
the recipe for success は「成功のレシピ、成功に必要なもの」です。
資金（money）・人材（connection）・市場環境（market conditions）でしたね。

They had no money; they paid for their dream with the proceeds from their bicycle shop. で「彼らにはお金がなかった。彼らは自分たちの夢のために家業の自転車店の収益を充てていた。」です。
they paid for their dream with ～ で「彼らは自分たちの夢の代金を～で払っていた」です。
何で払っていたかというと、
with the proceeds from their bicycle shop で「家業の自転車店の収益で」です。
proceeds は「収益金、利益」という意味の名詞です。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
