Too many people let fear of the unknown stop them from taking chances and forget that only with great risk comes great reward. で「20代は自由な時期です。住宅ローンも子供も様々な大人の責任もでてくる前だから。あまりにも多くの人が未知への恐怖のために、リスクのあることのみが大きな見返りがあるということを忘れ、チャンスのために一か八かやってみることを諦めている。」という意味になります。 Your 20s で「あなたの20代」となります。 before mortgages, kids and general grown-up responsibilities kick in で「住宅ローン、子供、一般的な大人の責任が始まる前」という意味になります。 kick in は start に近い意味で「始まる、（効果が）出てくる、始動する」という意味の動詞です。 例：a car engine kick in「エンジンが始動する」 mortgage はもとは「抵当、担保」という意味ですが、一般的には「（抵当権付の）住宅ローン」のことを意味します。 例：mortgage rate「住宅ローンの金利」 general grown-up responsibilities で「一般的な大人の責任」となります。 grown-up は名詞で「大人、成人」という意味です。 例；look like grown-ups「大人っぽく見える」 後半の文は、Too many people「あまりにも多くの人が」が主語です。 let fear of the unknown stop them from ～ で「未知への恐怖が彼らが～するのを止めることを許している」という意味です。 ちょっと複雑な言い回しですが一つ一つ見ていきましょう。 let ～ … で「～が…するのを許す、させておく」という意味になります。 この場合は let + fear of the unknown + stop なので「未知への恐怖が～を止めるのを許す」です。 fear of the unknown はひとかたまりで「未知への恐怖」という意味の決まり文句です。 次に、stop ～ from …ing で「～が…することを阻止する」という意味の言い回しです。 stop them from taking chances なので「彼らが一か八かやってみることを妨げる」ですね。 take a chance, take chances で「一か八かやってみる、賭けに出る」という意味です。 forget that only with great risk comes great reward で「大きなリスクのあることだけが大きな利益になるということを忘れる」です。 forget that ～ で「～ということを忘れる」です。 only with great risk で「大きなリスクがあること」です。 come は「～になる」という意味で、comes great reward で「大きな利益になる」となります。 reward は「報酬、利益、見返り」という意味の名詞です。
