で「贅沢とは戸口に現れた狼のようなものであり、その牙とは、成功によって芽生える虚栄心やうぬぼれのことだ。芸術家がこのことを悟れば、危険がどこに潜んでいるのかがわかる。」という意味になります。

Luxury is the wolf at the door「贅沢は戸口に現れた狼である」です。
at the door は「家の玄関」のことです。「もうすぐそこまで来ている、迫りくる」というニュアンス。
and ～「そして～」
its fangs are the vanities and conceits で「そのオオカミの牙は、虚栄心や自惚れである」です。
fang は「動物などの牙」です。
vanity と conceit 似ている言葉ですが、vanity の方が外見・体面に関する意味が強く「虚栄心、うぬぼれ、人からよく見られたい気持ち」です。
例：vanity bag「化粧バッグ」
conceit は自分は優れているという「思い上がり、自分への満足、慢心」です。
例：conceited attitude「のぼせ上った態度、いい気になった態度」
germinated by success. で「成功によって芽生えた」です。
germinate [ジャ]ーミネイトゥは「発芽して成長させる、発生させる」です。
例：germinated brown rice「発芽玄米」

When an artist learns this,「芸術家がこれを知るとき、」
he knows where the danger is.「その危険がどこにあるかを理解する。」です。
