Japan’s preparations for the World Cup took another hit Tuesday. The Japanese team, which will face Colombia, Senegal and Poland in Group H at the tournament in Russia, lost to Ukraine 2-1 in a friendly.
で「火曜日、日本のワールドカップ準備試合がまた黒星を喫した。Ｗ杯ロシア大会ではグループHでコロンビア・セネガル・ポーランドと対する日本チームは、ウクライナとの親善試合で２－１で敗れた。」という意味になります。

Japan’s preparations for the World Cup で「日本のＷ杯準備試合」です。
preparation は「準備、予習」という意味の名詞です。
動詞形は、prepare プリペア「準備する」です。

took another hit で「また一つ痛手を被った」です。
take a hit で「打撃を受ける」という意味の慣用句です。
例：take a big hit「大打撃を受ける」
another は「もう一つの、さらに、また新しい」という意味です。
例：another cup of tea「お茶をもう一杯」

The Japanese team, which will face Colombia, Senegal and Poland in Group H at the tournament in Russia は
「Ｗ杯ロシア大会ではグループHでコロンビア・セネガル・ポーランドと対する日本チームは」と、
The Japanese team という主語を、which 以降の挿入句で修飾しているかたちです。
国名がいくつか出てきますが、和製発音とはだいぶ違うので、注意しておきましょう。

lost to Ukraine 2-1 in a friendly. で「ウクライナとの親善試合で２－１で負けた」です。
lost to ～ は、lose to ～ の過去形で「～に負ける」です。
2-1 の読み方は、two to one となります。
比率を表す場合の、2:1 と同じ読み方です。
in a friendly は「親善試合で」という意味になります。
