It’s a noisy environment we all live in, whether it’s traffic or the workplace, so it’s very difficult to think about your life in general. A lot of people are afraid to do that. They like to hide behind their work and not face up to a big problem in their life.
で「私たちが住んでいる生活環境は騒音が多い。交通の音でも、職場環境でもそうだ。なので、人生を俯瞰して考えることは私たちにとってとても難しい。多くの人はそれを嫌がる。彼らは自分の仕事を盾にとって、人生の大きな問題と向き合いたがらない。」という意味になります。

It’s a noisy environment we all live in で「騒音が多い環境だ、私たち皆が住む（環境は）」です。
noisy は「うるさい、騒音が多い」という意味の形容詞（adjective）です。
名詞形は noise ノイズで「騒音」です。

whether it’s traffic or the workplace, で「それが交通機関であろうと、職場であろうと」です。
whether ～ or …　で「～であれ、…であれ」という意味の言い回しです。

so it’s very difficult to think about your life in general. で「だから、人生全般について考えることは大変難しいことだ」です。
your life in general で「人生全般」という意味になります。
目先の生活だけではなく「人生を俯瞰して考える」ことですね。
in general は「一般に、概して」という意味ですが、
この場合は life in general で「人生全般、総合的に見た人生」という意味の慣用句です。
general は「全般の、全体的な、全面的な、概要の」という意味がある形容詞です。
例：women in general「女性全般」

A lot of people are afraid to do that. で「多くの人がそれをすることを嫌がる」です。
be afraid to ～ で「～するのを怖がる」ですが、この場合は「～するのを嫌がる、躊躇する」という意味です。
to do that とは、さっき出てきた to think your life in general「人生全般について考えること」です。

They like to hide behind their work and not face up to a big problem in their life. で「彼らは仕事の陰に隠れたがる、そして人生で大きな問題に直面したがらない」です。
like to ～ で「～したがる、～するのが好きだ」です。
hide behind their work で「仕事の陰に隠れる」です。
意訳すると「仕事にかまける、仕事が忙しいからと言い訳して」という意味ですね。
face up to ～ で「～に面と向かう」です。
例：face up to difficulty「困難に立ち向かう」

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
