Some people aren't used to an environment where excellence is expected. で「（自分が）クオリティーの基準になれ。高品質が当たり前という世界に慣れていない人もいるのだから。」という意味になります。 品質に妥協することに慣れてしまっている人が多い世界だから、 人の意見に惑わされず、自分の中に高品質の基準をしっかりと持つことが大切だと言っています。 yardstick は「ものさし」です。ヤードを測るための棒ですね。 比ゆ的に「尺度、基準」という意味でも使われます。 yard はモノの長さを表す単位です。1ヤードはおよそ91センチ。 be used to ～ で「～に慣れている」当意味の言い回しです。 後ろには名詞が来ます。 例：be used to driving a stick-shift「マニュアル車の運転に慣れている」、I'm used to the job「私はその仕事に慣れています」 environment で「環境、周囲の状況、生活環境、住む世界」という意味の名詞です。 例：work in a competitive environment「競争が厳しい世界で仕事をする」 where 以降はその environment を説明する関係代名詞節です。 where excellence is expected で「エクセレンスが期待されるところ」です。 excellence は「品質がいいこと、優れていること、卓越性」という意味の名詞です。 形容詞形は excellent「極めて優れている、卓越した」です。 be expected は「～を期待されている、～が当たり前だと思われている」という意味合いになります。 expect は「予期する」で覚えている人も多いかと思いますが、意味合い的には「期待して待つ」となります。 何かが起こる・来ることが当たり前だと思っているという意味合いです。
