Because it makes as much sense as anything else で「なぜなら、それは、他のものと同じくらい納得がいく」です。
it とは話の流れから、妖精が創作を助けてくれるという考え方です。
makes as much sense as ～ は、
make sense「納得がいく、理にかなっている」と、
as much ～ as …「…と同じくらい～な」の形がくっついた形です。

(anything else) I have ever heard in terms of ～ で「私が今までに～に関して聞いた（他の何でも）」です。
in terms of ～ で「～に関して、～について、～の点で」という意味の言い回しです。

(in terms of) explaining ～ で「～を説明することに関して」
何を説明するのかというと、
the utter maddening capriciousness of the creative process. で「あの創作プロセスの完全に気が狂いそうになる気まぐれさ」です。
capriciousness は「気まぐれさ」です。
capricious + -ness という形です。
utter は「全くの、完全な」という意味の副詞です。
utter maddening で「まったく頭がおかしくなるような」です。
madden は mad の動詞形で「狂わせる、発狂させる、激怒させる」です。

A process which, as anybody who has ever tried to make something — which is to say basically everyone here — knows does not always behave rationally. は、長いですが途中に、
as anybody who has ever tried to make something — which is to say basically everyone here — knows が挿入された形と考えます。
挿入句を一旦省くと、
A process which does not always behave rationally. となって、「いつも合理的にはいかないプロセス」となります。
次に、挿入句の方を見てみましょう。
as ～「～な様に」
anybody who has ever tried to make something で「何かを作ろうとしたことがある人なら誰でも」が主語です。
— which is to say basically everyone here — で「つまり、ここにいる人全員」となります。
which is to say は「つまりは、すなわち」という意味のイディオムです。
knows で「（誰でもが）知っている（ように）」となります。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
