電気技師、発明家であるニコラ・テスラの言葉です。

Modern science says: ‘The sun is the past, the earth is the present, the moon is the future.’ From an incandescent mass we have originated, and into a frozen mass we shall turn. Merciless is the law of nature, and rapidly and irresistibly we are drawn to our doom.

で「現代科学によれば『太陽は過去、地球が現在、月が未来』と言う。白熱する巨大物質から、われわれは生まれ、そして凍てついた塊へわれわれは行きつくことになる。自然の法則は無慈悲である。そしてわれわれは急激な速さでいや応なしにその破滅への運命へと引きこまれていく。」という意味になります。

Modern science says: で「現代科学は～と言う、現代科学によれば～だ」です。

‘The sun is the past, the earth is the present, the moon is the future.’ で「『太陽は過去、地球が現在、月が未来』」です。

どういうことなのかというと、
From an incandescent mass we have originated, で「白熱した巨大な物質から、われわれが生まれた」です。
From an incandescent mass を強調のために前に持ってきた倒置構文です。
an incandescent mass は太陽のことを指して「高温で光り輝く物質」です。
incandescent インカン[デ]セントゥは「白熱した」という意味の形容詞です。
白熱電球 incandescent light bulb でおなじみです。
mass は「（集まった）大きな塊、物質、質量」など言う意味の名詞です。
形容詞形は massive マッスィヴ「巨大な、きわめて大量の」です。
we have originated で「私たちが（そこから）発生した・生じた」です。

私たち生命の起源は太陽だ、ということです。

and「そして」

into a frozen mass we shall turn. で「凍った塊へ、私たちは行きつくこととなる」です。
こちらも同様に into a frozen mass を強調のために前に持ってきた倒置構文です。
a frozen mass は月のことを指しています。
we shall turn into ～ で「私たちは～への変化する、～になる」です。
生命のいきつく先は月だ、ということです。

Merciless is the law of nature, で「自然の法則は無慈悲である」です。
merciless は「無慈悲な」という意味の形容詞。
これもこの形容詞を強調するための倒置構文で、実際の主語は the law of nature です。
あえて元の文にもどすと、
the law of nature is merciless. となります。

and ～「そして～」

rapidly and irresistibly we are drawn to our doom.「急速にいや応なく、私たちは自分たちの破滅への運命に引きよせられる」です。
irresistibly イリ[ズィ]スティブリで「抵抗できずに、いや応なく、どうしようもなく」という意味の副詞です。
例：I’m irresistibly attracted to ～「私は～にたまらなく魅力を感じる」
be drawn to ～ で「～に引き寄せられる」です。
our doom で「私たちの破滅への運命」です。
doom ドゥームは「（運命づけられた）破滅、死、滅び」という意味の名詞です。
基本的に悪い（ネガティブな）意味あいになります。
例：Prepare to meet your doom!「覚悟しろ！（観念しろ！）」

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

Modern science says:
現代科学によると

‘The sun is the past, the earth is the present, the moon is the future.’
『太陽は過去、地球が現在、月が未来』

From an incandescent mass
高温に光り輝く巨大な物体から

we have originated,
私たちは生まれた

and into a frozen mass
そして、凍てつく物体へと

we shall turn.
私たちは行きつくことになる

Merciless is the law of nature,
自然の法則は無慈悲だ

and rapidly and irresistibly
そして急速に抗いがたく

we are drawn to our doom.
われわれは破滅へと引き込まれる

今度は「頭の中で」一行ずつ日本語に訳しながら…
