This was the first Slam tournament for the 23-year-old Osaka で「これは、最初のスラムトーナメントだった、23歳の大坂にとって」です。
Slam tournament はテニスの「グランドスラム（4大大会）」の中のどれかです。
全豪・全仏・ウィンブルドン・全米のどれかになります。
今回は US Open「全米オープン」を指しています。
the 23-year-old Osaka で「23歳の大坂」です。
形容詞として使われる場合、years old と複数形にはならないので注意しましょう。
例：He is 23 years old.「彼は23歳だ。」、
since ～「～以来」です。
～以来、初めて（first）だった、ということです。
she pulled out of the French Open で「彼女が全仏オープンを途中棄権して（以来）」です。
pull out of ～ で「～から身を引く、～から撤退する」という意味の言い回しです。
before the second round で「その大会の第２ラウンド前に」
to take a mental health break で「メンタルヘルス休暇を取るために」です。
take a break で「休憩する」という意味のコロケーションです。
a mental health break で「心の休息」となります。
メンタルヘルス（心の健康）を改善するための休息を指します。

after having announced (that) ～ で「～だと宣言したあと」
何と宣言したかというと、
(that) she would not participate in news conferences in Paris. で「自分は参加しない（と）、パリでの記者会見に」です。
participate パー・[ティ]・スィ・ペイトゥで「参加する」という意味の動詞です。
自動詞なので直接目的語は取れず、participate in ～「～に参加する」という形をとります。
例：participate actively in hostilities「積極的に戦闘に参加する」
