Today we continue a never-ending journey to bridge the meaning of those words with the realities of our time. For history tells us that while these truths may be self-evident, they’ve never been self-executing; that while freedom is a gift from God, it must be secured by His people here on Earth. (Applause.)

For history tells us that while these truths may be self-evident, they’ve never been self-executing; that while freedom is a gift from God, it must be secured by His people here on Earth. (Applause.)
で「今日、我々はそれらの言葉の意味とこの時代の実情に橋を架けるために終わりなき長い旅を続けています。というのも、これらの真実は自明なものではあるけれども、今までも自動実効的なものでは決してなかったからです。そして自由は、神からの贈り物ではあるけれども、それはこの世に生きる我々、人間によって確保されねばならないものだと、歴史は語るからです。」という意味になります。

Today we continue a never-ending journey で「今日、我々は決して終わらない長い旅を続けています」です。

to bridge ～ で「橋を架けるために（旅をしている）」です。
何と何には橋を架けるかというと、
(bridge) the meaning of those words with the realities of our time. で「それらの言葉の意味と、この時代の実情との間に」です。
bridge ～ with … で「～と…に橋を架ける」

For history tells us that ～ で「なぜなら、～ということが、歴史を見ればわかるからです」です。
この for は等位接続詞 FANBOYS の理由を表す for です。

等位接続詞の for は通常は文頭に置けないことになっていますが、今回のように例外もあるようです。

歴史は何を我々に語っているのかというと、that節で、
while these truths may be self-evident, で「これらの真実は自明なものであるかもしれないけれども」です。
while ～ は「～する一方で、～するけれども」という意味です。
ではあるけれども、
they’ve never been self-executing; で「それらは決して自動実効的なものではなかった」です。
self-executing は「自分で実行する」なので、人が何かしてあげなくても勝手に施行される、という意味合いです。

; that ～ で、もう一つ that節を追加して、
while freedom is a gift from God, で「自由は神からの贈り物ではあるけれども、」
it must be secured by His people here on Earth. で「それは確保されなければならない、彼の人々によって、地上の」です。
it は freedom を指しています。
secure は「～を確保する、～を確実なものとする、守る、保証する」という意味の動詞です。
例：Please secure a meeting room.「会議室を確保してください。」
His people は「神の民」です。His とキャピタライズされている通り God’s を意味しています。
つまり神が創造した「人間、人類」を指しています。
here on Earth で直訳すると「ここ地球上で」ですが、Earth はここでは Heaven に対しての「この世、現世」です。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

我々は終わりのない長い旅を続けます

to bridge
橋を架けるために

the meaning of those words
それらの言葉の意味と

with the realities of our time.
この時代の現実との間に

For history tells us that
なぜなら、歴史は～だと語るからです

while these truths may be self-evident,
これらの真実は自明であるかもしれないが

they’ve never been self-executing;
それらは決して手放しでは実現しない（と）

that
そして（～だと）

while freedom is a gift from God,
自由は神からの贈り物だが

it must be secured
それは確保されなければならない
