Asked to comment on ～ で「～についてのコメントするように求められて」という意味です。
分詞構文で、 Being asked to ～ の being が省略された形です。

comment on ～ で「～についてコメントをする」です。
comment はここでは動詞として使われています。
何についてコメントを求められたかというと、
(on) his matchup with Trout, で「彼のトラウトとのマッチアップ（対戦）について」です。
his は Ohtani を指しています。

Ohtani said, ～ で「大谷は～と言った」
“I knew he would be the final batter of the game で「～だと分かった、彼がその試合の最終バッターになるだろうと、」です。
I knew (that) ～ で「～だと知った」です。
if I could retire the first two. で「もし私が最初の２人を打ち取れたら」です。
retire ～ は野球用語で「（打者を）アウトにする」という意味の動詞。
記事中には同じ意味で set down ～「（打者を）三振させる、打ち取る」という言い方も出てきます。
the first two は「最初の二人」です。the first two (batters)

I managed to do ～ で「私はどうにか～した」
manage to do ～ で「どうにかして～する、なんとか～する」という意味の言い回し。
get him (Mookie Betts) to hit into a double play で「彼（ムーキー・ベッツ）に打たせてダブルプレーにする」です。
つまり「ダブルプレーに打ち取る」です。
and ～「そして～」
faced Trout で「トラウトと対峙した」です。
face ～ で「～と対峙する、直面する、立ち向かう」です。
