■work hard 一生懸命働く,勉強する,熱心に取り組む □grown 音声 グ[ロ]ウン grow「成長する」の過去分詞形 ■just the two of us 我々二人だけ □billion 音声 [ビ]・リォン 10億 □employee 音声 イン・プ[ロ]イ・イー 従業員 ※ 引用元：Steve Jobs' 2005 Stanford Commencement Address - Stanford University http://news.stanford.edu/news/2005/june15/jobs-061505.html We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage into a $2 billion company with over 4,000 employees. で「私たちは一生懸命に働き、アップルは10年でガレージで我々二人だけから4000人以上の従業員を抱える20億円企業に成長していた。」という意味になります。 We worked hard で「私たちは一生懸命に働いた」です。 work hard は「一生懸命に働く」と言う意味ですが、働く以外にも全般的に「がんばる」という意味で使います。 例：work hard on English「英語をがんばる」 grow form ～ into … で「～から…に成長する」と言う意味になります。 form ～ into … は「～から…へ（変わる、変える）」と言う意味です。into の代わりに to でもOKです。 例：translate letters from English into Japanese「手紙を英語から日本語へ翻訳する」 from just the two of us in a garage で「ガレージでの我々二人だけから」 into a $2 billion company with over 4,000 employees「従業員4000人以上の20億円企業へと」です。 just the two of us はよく使われる表現で「私たち二人だけで、二人っきりで」です。 a $2 billion company で「20億円企業」です。 billion は数字の単位で「10億」です。 million が「百万（1,000,000）」、billion「10億（1,000,000,000）」です。 億万長者のことを billionaire ビリオネアといったりします。 with over 4,000 employees で「4000人以上の従業員を持った」です。 employee は「従業員」です。employer で「雇用主、雇い主」になります。 接尾語の -ee は「される人」で、-er が「する人」になります。
