夜中に鳴ったドアベルの理由。

Today at 10:00 pm, someone rang my doorbell 4 times, while I was sleeping. I thought it was an emergency and I opened the door to my neighbor who just want to ask if I had a blackout at noon. FML

Today at 10:00 pm, someone rang my doorbell 4 times, while I was sleeping. I thought it was an emergency and I opened the door to my neighbor who just want to ask if I had a blackout at noon. FML
で「今日、夜の10時、私が寝ている時、誰かがドアベルを4回も鳴らした。緊急事態だと思って、ドアを開けたら近所の人がいて、今日のお昼に停電があったかどうかを私に尋ねようとしていただけだった。。F*ck my life!」という意味になります。

someone rang my doorbell 4 times, で「誰かがドアベルを4回も鳴らした」です。
ring a bell で「ベルを鳴らす」ですね。
昔の映画で The Postman Always Rings Twice（郵便配達は二度ベルを鳴らす）というのがありました。
「～回、～度」という表現は、once, twice, 3 times, 4 times… となります。

while I was sleeping で「私が寝ている時に」です。

I thought (that) it was an emergency で「私はそれが緊急事態だと思った」です。

and I opened the door to my neighbor で「そして私はドアを開けた（そしたら）近所の人がいた」です。
open the door to ～ で「～への扉を開く」という意味でもありますが、
この場合は単に「開けたら～がいた」という意味合いになっています。

(my neighbor who) just want to ask if で「（その近所の人は）ただ～かどうか尋ねたいだけの」です。
ask if ～ で「～かどうか尋ねる」ですね。

ask if I had a blackout at noon で「正午に停電があったかどうか尋ねる」です。
have a blackout で「停電に遭う、停電する」です。
先日も出ましたが停電は他にも、power outage とも言います。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

誰かが玄関ベルを4回鳴らした

while I was sleeping.
寝ている時に

私は～だと思った
