野球のニュース記事では独特な表現が多く登場して最初は苦労しますが、野球好きな人はぜひ慣れておきたいところですね。

hit は過去・過去分詞ともすべて形が変わらない動詞です。
ここでは過去形になっていることに注意しましょう。
homer は「ホームラン」です。
to cap a six-run ninth inning で「６得点の９回を締めくくった」です。
ここでの to不定詞は【結果】の用法で「（その結果）～した」という風に訳せます。
例：He grew up to be a doctor.「彼は成長して医者になった。」
cap ～ で「～を締めくくる」です。
a six-run ninth inning で「６点を挙げた９回」です。
six-run の run は野球用語で「得点」を意味します。
例：three-run homer「３得点獲得のホームラン」
inning は「（野球の）回」です。
表裏を言いたい場合は、
top of the ninth inning「９回表」
bottom of the ninth inning「９回裏」となります。
and ～「そして～」
the Los Angeles Dodgers rallied for ～ で「ロサンジェルス・ドジャーズは～に向かって盛り返した」です。
rally は「回復する、持ち直す」という意味の動詞。
例：Stocks have rallied in anticipation of a recovery.「株は回復を期待して持ち直した。」
rallied for a wild 14-11 victory で「14-11の波乱の勝利へと盛り返した」です。
a victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks で「アリゾナ・ダイアモンドバックスに対する勝利」です。
on Friday night.「金曜の夜に」

trail は「後を追う」という意味から「リードを許す、後れを取る」という意味の動詞です。
entering the ninth inning で「９回に入るときには」です。
after ～「～の後で」
blowing an early five-run lead.「序盤の５点リードをふいにした（後で）」です。
blow ～ は「～を吹き飛ばす」という意味が基本ですが、
ここでは「～を無駄にする、ふいにする、台無しにする」です。
five-run lead「５点リード」
序盤では5点リードしていたのに、９回に入るときには11-8とリードされていた、ということですね。
