で「というわけで我々は実際にそれ（Google Earth）をやることにしたんです（会場笑い）。6か月が4か月になり、さらに2か月、そして1か月と時間がどんどん減っていく中で、TEDのスタッフは講演者を公開しました。そしてそのウェブサイトをブラウザで開いてみたのですが、そこには自分の顔が真正面からこちらを見返していました。さて、そのとき誰が目を覚ましたでしょう？」という意味になります。

So ～「なので～、というわけで～」
that’s what we did that day.「それが、実際にその日やったことでした。」です。
Google Earth でインドを南から北までじっくり見ることを実際やった、ということですね。
As ～「～する中で、～するにつれて」
six months turned into ～「６カ月が～に変わっていく（中で）」
(into) four and then two and then one,「４カ月に、そして２カ月に、そのあと１カ月に」です。
the people of TED「TEDの人たちが」
decided to release the speakers.「講演者を発表することになりました。」
decide to do ～ で「～することにした、思い立って～するに至った」です。
release は「釈放する」という意味もありますがここでは「（情報など）～を公表する、公開する」です。
And「そして～」
I opened up the website,「私はそのTEDのウェブサイトをブラウザで開きました」
open up ～ は「～を開く」
例：open up a menu「メニューを開く」
, and ～「すると～」
there was my face で「そこには私の顔がありました」
(my face) staring right back at me.「私をまっすぐに凝視している（私の顔）」です。
ウェブサイト上に掲載された自分の写真のことですね。
And guess who woke up?「さて、誰が目を覚ましたでしょう？」です。
guess は「～を当ててみる、～を言い当てる、推測する」という意味の動詞。
それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
