The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe — the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.

And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe — the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.
で「いまや世界は、まったく違うものになっています。なぜなら人類は、その死すべき手の中に、あらゆる形の人間の貧困をなくす力と、あらゆる形の人間の生命を消し去る力を握っているからです。それでもなお、私たちの祖先がそのために戦った、あの同じ革命的な信念は、いまも世界中で争点であり続けています。すなわち、人間の権利は国家の寛大さから与えられるものではなく、神の手から来るものだ、という信念です。」という意味になります。

The world is very different now.「世界は今、とても違うものになっている。」

For ～「というのも～だから」
man holds in his mortal hands ～ で「人類は、～を手中に握っている（から）」です。
man はここでは「人類、人」です。
in his mortal hands で「人類の死すべき手の中に」です。
mortal は「死すべき運命の」という意味です。対義語は immortal で「不死の、不死身の」です。
一般的に immortal が「神」、mortal が「生身の人間」と捉えますので、
ここでは、神でもない人間ごときが～を持ってしまった、という含意ですね。
何を持ってしまったのかというと、
the power to do ～ で「～する力を」
(to) abolish all forms of human poverty「人類のあらゆる形態の貧困を終わらせる（力）」です。
abolish は「～を廃止する、無効にする、滅ぼす」という意味の動詞。
and ～「また～」
all forms of human life. で「あらゆる形の人間の生命を（終わらせる力）」です。
つまり、科学技術の発達によって、人類は貧困をなくす力も人類そのものを滅ぼす力も持つようになった、ということですね。

And yet ～「それにもかかわらず～」
the same revolutionary beliefs「その同じ革命的な信念」
for which our forebears fought で「我々の先人たちがそのために戦った（信念）」です。
for which は、前置詞を伴った関係代名詞で、 fought for ～ と繋がっています。
are still at issue で「今でも争点であり続けている」
around the globe「世界中で」です。
その信念とは、つまり、
— the belief that ～「～という信念」
the rights of man「人の権利は」
come not from ～「～から来るものではない」
(from) the generosity of the state,「国家の寛容さから」
but ～「ではなく」
from the hand of God.「神の手から（来るものだ）」です。
これは基本的人権の考え方、つまり、
人の基本的権利は、国家よりも上位の存在（神）によって与えらたものであり、国家によって与えられたり取り上げられたりすることはないという考え方です。

アメリカ独立宣言の有名な一説とつながっています。

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

私たちは、次の真理を自明のものと考える。すなわち、すべての人は平等に創られ、創造主によって、一定の奪うことのできない権利を与えられている。その権利の中には、生命、自由、幸福の追求が含まれる。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
