今日も英語脳で英語を読む練習をしましょう。

one-sixth で６分の１という意味になります。ちなみに
2分の1=half of / one-half of
3分の1=one-third of
4分の1=quarter of / forth of / one quarter of
となります。

reduce ～ to ashes は「～を灰にする」という意味です。今回は受動態で
be redeced to ashes 「灰になる」という意味になります。
また、今回の redece は「破壊する」という意味合いで使われてますが、
「減らす」という意味もありますので注意しましょう。
