One peculiarity of the Japanese language で「日本語の一つの独特な点」という意味になります。
peculiarity ペキュリ[ア]リティーは「独特な点、特性、風変わりな点」という意味の名詞です。
形容詞形は peculiar ピ[キュ]ーリァ「独特な、風変わりな、固有の」です。
例：peculiar system「独特のシステム」
副詞形は peculiarly ペ[キュ]リアリ「独特に、固有に、奇妙に」です。
例：peculiarly interesting movie「特に面白い映画」

the subject or object may be omitted で「主語や目的語を省略してもいい」です。
subject は「主語」、object が「目的語」です。
ちなみに、「述語」は predicate プ[レ]ディケイト、「動詞」は verb、「形容詞」は adjective [ア]ジェクティブといいます。
