among Japan’s most beloved heroes で「日本で最も愛されている英雄たちの中の一員」という意味になります。
例：among allies「同盟国の一員」

come of age は「成人に達する」という意味の慣用句です。
例：after come of age「成人してから、成人後に」

U.S. Commodore Matthew Perry’s Black Ships で「アメリカのマシュー・ペリー准将の黒船」
有名なペリーの黒船のことです。
ships と複数なのはは、浦賀に来航した黒船は全部で四隻（マシュー・ペリー率いるアメリカ海軍東インド艦隊）だからです。

demanding trade relations で「貿易関係を要求しに」です。
demand は「要求する」という意味の動詞です。
trade relation は「貿易関係」という意味になります。

ending the country’s closed-door foreign policy で「国の鎖国政策を終わらせに」です。
closed-door foreign policy で「非公開の外交政策」となります。
closed-door は「非公開の、密室の」などと言う意味の形容詞です。
例：closed-door meeting「密室会議」
また「鎖国」はほかにも
national isolation policy, a seclusion policy などと言ったりもします。
