local residents で「地域住民」という意味になります。
resident は「住民」です。
動詞形は reside リザイドゥ「住む」です。
例：residents of a prefecture「県民」

push to do で「～することを推し進める」です。
power pole で「電柱、電信柱」です。
power は「電力」、pole は「柱」です。
アメリカでは、utility pole とも言います。

from a main street in the Pontocho traditional entertainment district で「伝統的な歓楽街、先斗町のメインストリートから」です。
entertainment district で「歓楽街、繁華街、遊び場」という意味になります。
主に飲み屋・風俗などが多い地域のことです。
district で「地域、地区」です。
例：shopping district「商業地域、商店街」

in a bid to recreate an old-fashioned townscape で「昔ながらの町並みを再現することを目指して」です。
in a bid to ～ で「～することを目指して」です。
例：in a bid to save the girl「その少女を助けようとして」
recreate で「再現する、再作成する」です。
old-fashioned townscape で「昔ながらの町並み」です。
-scape は「見晴し、景観、風景」という意味です。
例：cityscape「都市の風景」、dreamscape「夢のような情景」
