About three and a half years ago, I made a discovery. And this discovery profoundly changed my view on how I thought the world worked, and it even profoundly changed the way in which I operate in it.
で「約三年半前、私はある発見をしました。そしてこの発見は、世界がどう動いているかという私の見方を大いに変え、またそれは私の世界との接し方さえも大いに変えました。」という意味になります。

About three and a half years ago, I made a discovery. で「約三年半前、私はある発見をした。」です。
three and a half years で「3年半」という言い回しです。
例：one and a half million dollars「150万ドル」

this discovery profoundly changed my view on ～ で「この発見は、深く私の～に対する見方を変えた」となります。
profoundly は「大いに、深く、心から」などという意味の副詞です。
形容詞形は、profound で「深い、心からの、深刻な」です。
例：profound crisis「深刻な危機」、profound despair「深い絶望」、profound effect「計り知れない影響」
view はこの場合「見方、考え方」という意味になります。

何に対する考え方を変えたのかというと、
my view on how I thought the world worked で「私が考える世界の動き方に対する私の見方」です。
how the world worked で「世界がどう働いているか、世界の仕組み」です。
この場合の、work は「（機械などが正常に）機能する、稼働する、動く」という意味です。

it even profoundly changed the way in which I operate in it で「それは私の世界との接し方さえも大いに変えました」です。
it even profoundly changed で「それは～をも大きく変えました」です。

何を変えたのかというと、
the way in which I operate in it で「私がその中で活動する方法」です。
in it の it は world（世界）のことなので、世界の中で自分が operate する方法・やり方となります。
operate は機械などが作動する・稼働する、軍隊などが作戦行動する、などという意味の動詞です。
in the way で「やり方で」ですね。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

約3年半前

I made a discovery.
私はある発見をした

And this discovery profoundly changed my view
そしてこの発見は私の見方を大きく変えた

on how I thought the world worked,
世界がどう動いているか（ということへの見方を）

and it even profoundly changed
そしてそれは～をも大きく変えた

the way in which I operate in it.
私がその世界で活動するやり方も
