で「パンケーキが朝食の主食であるアメリカとは違って、日本ではそれは主にデザートと考えられています。そのため、ここ日本では、パンケーキはおいしいだけではなく、見た目もかわいくすべきだという考えが一般的です。」という意味になります。
Unlike in America, で「アメリカとは違って」です。
where pancakes are a breakfast staple, で「（そのアメリカでは）パンケーキは朝食の主食だ」です。
unlike ～ で「～とは違って、～とは異なって」という意味の分になります。
例：unlike before「以前とは違って」
like ～ で「～のように」の逆ですね。
アメリカではパンケーキを朝食の主食（staple）として食べます。
staple とは日本でいうごはんやパン・うどんなど食卓の主食のことです。
in Japan they’re primarily seen as a dessert で「日本では、それらは主にデザートとして見られている」です。
they は pancakes のことです。
確かにマックグリドルは初めて日本で出た時はかなり違和感がありましたね。
Because of that, で「そのために、そういうわけで」です。
会話で便利そうな表現ですね。
the consensus here is that ～ で「ここでの一般的な考えは～（ということ）だ」です。
consensus は「みんなの一致した意見・考え」です。
例：gain a public consensus「一般の合意を得る」
ここ（日本）ではどんなことが一般的な考えなのかというと、
not only should pancakes taste great, they should look cute as well. で「パンケーキはおいしくあるべきだけではなく、見た目もかわいくあるべきだ」です。
not only ～, …「～なだけではなく、…だ」の形です。
not only should pancakes taste great で「パンケーキがおいしくあるべきなだけではなく」です。
not only が文頭に来る場合は倒置が起きます。
should と pancakes が倒置していますね。
they should look cute as well で「それらは見た目もかわいくあるべきだ」です。
as well は文末で「～も、同様に」という意味になります。
それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
