で「俳句は世界でもっとも簡潔な詩である。俳句にはとんでもない要求が課されている。それは、17音節の中に全宇宙を表すというものだ。禅の達人であり、禅と深くつながったあらゆる日本の芸術に通じていた鈴木大拙は、俳句を詠む者に、完全にエゴイズムをすすぎ落として、宇宙的無意識に降りていくことを求めた。無考・無心の領域において、私たちは自分自身の『月の本質、桜の本質』を見つける。」という意味になります。

compressed コン・プ[レ]ストゥは「圧縮された、縮められた」です。
例：compressed image data「圧縮画像データ」
poetry で「詩」、poet で「詩人」となります。

Extravagant claims are made for it. で「それ（俳句）には、とんでもない要求が課されている」です。
extravagant claims で「とんでもない要求、過大な要求、途方もない請求」と言う意味になります。
extravagant は「（値段などが）バカ高い、法外な、限度を超えた」と言った意味合いの形容詞です。
claim の元の意味は「（当然の）請求権」という意味です。
make a claim for ～ の形で「～の請求をする」という意味になります。
最後の it は Haiku を指しています。

「とんでもない要求」とは何かというと、
The entire universe in 17 syllables! で「17音節の中に全宇宙を」です。
17音節とは、五・七・五（合計17）のことですね。
英語で俳句を詠む場合は、syllable で数えるそうです。

Suzuki, Zen master and connoisseur of all Japanese arts as they relate to Zen, までが主語で「鈴木、禅の達人で、あらゆる日本の芸術の目利き、それらの芸術はみな禅に繋がっているので」です。
Suzuki とは鈴木大拙（すずきたいせつ）のことです。英語の達人でもあった鈴木大拙は、禅に関する著作を実に流暢な英語で執筆し、禅を世界に知らしめた人物です。現在の世界的な禅ブームの立役者と言えます。
connoisseur of all Japanese arts で「あらゆる日本の芸術の専門家」です。
connoisseur カノ[サ]ーはフランス語由来の言葉で「目利き、鑑定人、専門家」です。
as they relate to Zen で「それらは禅に繋がっているので」です。
they とは all Japanese arts を指します。
日本の芸術文化の根本的な精神はすべて禅の考えに根差しているから、ということですね。

その鈴木は、
requires that ～ で「～であるべきだと求めた」です。
require は「～を必要とする、～を義務づける、要求する」です。
どうあるべきと求めたかというと、
requires (that) the poet descend into the Cosmic Unconscious. で「詩人は宇宙的無意識に降りていくべき（だと求めた）」です。
the poet は「その詩人」つまり「俳句を詠む人、俳人」です。
descend into ～ で「～のなかに降りていく」です。
descend が３人称単数形（descends）にならず、原形のままなのは、なぜかというと、
requires that the poet (should) descend into ～ と should が省略されているからです。

“entirely cleansed of egoism,” は挿入句的に「完全に利己心をすすぎ落して」となります。
cleanse クレンズは「～をそそぐ、洗浄する」という意味の動詞です。
cleanse ～ of … で「～を洗って…を落とす」となります。
例：cleanse someone of his sins「人の罪を洗い清める」

Here, in the realm of “no-thought,” “no-mind,” で「この、無心・無我の境地においては」です。
realm of ～ で「～の領域、～の領土」です。

we discover “our moon nature, our cherry blossom nature.” で「私たちは～を見出す、自分自身の月の本質、桜の本質を」です。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
