Today, my boyfriend has had name ideas for his future son and daughter even before I met him, but so have I. He disregards my ideas and suggestions, and is hell bent on giving our kids names because he likes “the way they sound.” ‘Hippopotamus’ sounds good, but who’d name their kids that? FML

Today, my boyfriend has had name ideas for his future son and daughter even before I met him, but so have I. He disregards my ideas and suggestions, and is hell bent on giving our kids names because he likes “the way they sound.” ‘Hippopotamus’ sounds good, but who’d name their kids that? FML
で「今日、私の彼氏は、私と出会う前から、将来の息子・娘のための名前のアイデアを持っていた。しかし、わたしも同様にアイデアがあった。彼は、私のアイデアと提案を無視して、私たちの子供の名前は自分が絶対に命名するのだと言い張っている。なぜなら、その音の響きが気に入っているからだそうだ。『ヒポポータマス（カバ）』確かに響きはいい。でも、それを自分の子供につける人がいるだろうか。F*ck my life!」という意味になります。

my boyfriend has had name ideas for his future son and daughter で「私の彼氏は、持っていた、名前のアイデアを、自分の将来の息子と娘のための」です。
name ideas で「名前のアイデア」です。どんな名前にするかの候補があった、ということですね。

even before I met him, で「私が彼に出会う前から」です。
even は before を強調して「～以前でさえ」です。会う前にすでに持っていた、ということです。
met は meet「出会う」の過去形です。

but so have I. で「でも、私も同じく、そうしていた。」です。
so have I はよくある倒置形で、本来の文章にもどすと、
I have so です。省略した部分も補完すると
I have had name ideas「私にも（同様に）名前候補があった」ということになります。
例：“I like sushi.” “So do I.”「私は寿司が好き」「私もです」

He disregards my ideas and suggestions, で「彼は私のアイデアと提案を無視する」です。
disregard ディスリガードゥで「～を無視する、軽んずる」です。
例：disregard someone’s order「～の言いつけを聞かない」

and (he) is hell bent on giving our kids names で「そして彼は、私たちの子供を自分が命名するんだと譲らない」です。
be hell bent on ～ は「絶対に～するんだと言い張る、～に無我夢中である」です。
be bent on ～ に強調の hell がついた形です。
bent は bend「曲げる、傾ける」の過去形です。
「自分自身を～に傾ける、～に方向付ける」というイメージです。
例：He’s bent on making money.「彼は金もうけに夢中になっている。」
give one’s name で「（人の）命名をする、名付け親となる」という意味です。

because he likes “the way they sound.” で「なぜなら、彼は気に入っているから、その音の響きを」です。
the way they sound で「それらがどう響くか、どんな音か、音の響き」となります。
the way ～ で「～する方法、～の仕方、どんなふうに～するか」という意味の言い回しです。
they は彼の名前候補を指しています。
sound は「音が聞こえる、音が鳴る、鳴動する」という意味の自動詞です。
例：The noise sounded eerily.「その音は不気味に響いた。」

その名前とは、
‘Hippopotamus’ sounds good, but who’d name their kids that? で「ヒポポタマスは、確かに音の響きはいい、だけど誰が自分の子供にそれをつけるだろうか？」です。
hippopotamus は「カバ」です。
hippo「ヒッポー」と略します。
who’d name their kids that? は疑問形ですが、婉曲的な否定です。
誰がするだろう？→いや誰もしない、ということです。
who’d は who would の略になっています。
name はここでは動詞で、name ～ … の形で「～を…と名付ける」です。
例：I named the cat “Tama.”「私はその猫をタマと名付けた。」
ですので、最後の that は Hippopotamus を指しています。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
