Today, my son finally stood up to his bully and gave him a smashing that he damn well deserved. I’m desperate to tell him how proud I am, but my wife won’t let me because “we’re not raising a thug” and after 17 years of marriage, I’ve learned arguing with her is pointless. FML
で「今日、息子がついにいじめっ子に立ち向かって見事な一撃をくらわせた。それは完全に相手の受けるべき報いだ。私はどれほど誇らしいかを息子に伝えたくてたまらないのだが、妻がそれをさせてくれない。なぜなら『私たちは暴漢を育てているわけじゃない』からと言って。17年の結婚生活を続けてきたが、私は妻と議論しても無意味だということを知った。F*ck my life!」という意味になります。

my son finally stood up to his bully で「息子がついにいじめっ子に立ち向かった」です。
finally で「ついに、最終的に、とうとう」という意味の副詞です。
stand up to ～, stand up against ～ で「～に立ち向かう」です。
and gave him a smashing で「そして彼に見事な一撃をくらわせた」です。
him はいじめっ子を指しています。
a smashing は「見事な一撃」です。
smashing は「（攻撃や成功などが）見事な、猛烈な～」という意味の形容詞なので、a smashing blow などと名詞が省略されている形です。
その一撃は、
(that) he damn well deserved. で「彼が完全に報いを受けるべきである（一撃）」です。
he もいじめっ子のことです。
well deserved ～ で「当然に～の報いを受けるべきだ」という意味で、そこに強調の damn が付いています。
deserve ディ[ザ]ーヴは良い意味でも悪い意味でも使われます。
例：She deserves the award.「彼女はその賞を受けるに値する。」、He got what he deserved.「彼は自業自得です。」

I’m desperate to ～ で「私は～したくてたまらない」です。
desperate [デ]スパレトゥで「必死の、たまらない、やけくそな」という意味の形容詞です。
有名なドラマの題名『デスパレートな妻たち（Desperate Housewives）』でおなじみですね。
どうしたくてたまらないのかというと、
(to) tell him how proud I am, で「彼に伝えたい、私がどれほど（彼のことを）誇らしいかを」です。
tell ～ … で「～に…を伝える」です。
him は息子のことです。
名詞節 how proud I am を、平叙文にすると、I am proud of him.「私は彼のことを誇りに思う。」です。

but my wife won’t let me で「しかし妻が私にそうさせてくれない」です。
let me (tell him) と省略されています。

because “we’re not raising a thug” で「なぜなら、私たちは暴漢を育てているわけじゃないから」です。
thug は「暴力団（の一員）、暴漢、殺し屋」といった意味合いです。

and「そして」
after 17 years of marriage,「17年の結婚生活の後で」
I’ve learned (that) ～「私は～だと知った」です。
arguing with her is pointless. で「彼女と議論することは無意味である（と）」です。
動名詞句 arguing with her が主語になっています。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
