で「87年前、我々の父祖たちは、この大陸に、自由の中に着想され、人はみな生まれながらに平等であるという命題にささげられた、新しい国家を生み出した。」という意味になります。

本日から毎週火曜日は、第16代アメリカ合衆国大統領エイブラハム・リンカーンのゲティスバーグ演説 (1863年)を取り上げていきます！
government of the people, by the people, for the people でおなじみの演説ですが、全体がどんな内容かを知っている人は意外と少ないのではないでしょうか。
短い文章ですが古い言い回しなどもあって難易度はかなり高いです！

Four score and seven years ago で「87年前」という意味です。
87 years ago と同じ意味の古い言い方です。
score は「20」という意味です。複数形でも score のままです。（scores とする場合もあり）
4×20＝80、and 7 で合計すると87ですね。
1863年の87年前ですと、1776年なのでちょうどアメリカ独立宣言の年になります。

our fathers brought forth ～ で「我々の父祖たちは～を誕生させた」です。
our fathers で「我々の父祖たち、ご先祖様たち」です。
アメリカ人なら誰でも知っている founding fathers で「建国の父たち」でおなじみの表現ですね。
bring forth ～ で「～を誕生させる、生み出す」意味の句動詞です。
bring で「持ってくる、もたらす」、forth で「前に、前方へ」です。
ここでは目的語は後置されて、まず先に on this continent で「この大陸に」がきます。
そして次に来る、a new nation「新しい国家」が目的語です。
brought forth a new nation on this continent が一般的な語順ですが、a new nation に後ろからいろいろと修飾が入るために、後置された形です。

a new nation, がどんな国家かというと、
conceived in Liberty, で「自由の中で着想された（新しい国家）」です。
conceive は「～を着想する、心に思い描く」という意味から「～を懐胎する、～を身ごもる」という意味があります。
つまり、Liberty「自由」という母体に身ごもられた、というイメージです。
一般名詞である Liberty がキャピタライズされているのは、この時代の英語の特徴らしく、
「重要な」一般名詞を大文字にするというルースな慣習があったからだそうです。

and「そして（また）」
dedicated to the proposition that ～ で「～という命題にささげられた（新しい国家）」です。
dedicate [デ]ディケイトゥは「～をささげる、～に専念させる」という意味の動詞です。
例：dedicated channel「専用チャンネル」、dedicated collector「熱心なコレクター」
何にささげられた国家かというと、
the proposition that ～ で「～という命題に」です。
proposition で「提案、議題、課題、命題」です。
動詞形は propose プロ[ポ]ウズ「～を提案する、～を企てる」です。
that はここでは【同格】を意味して the proposition の内容を表しています。
どんな「命題」かというと、
(that) all men are created equal. で「すべての人間は平等に創られている（という命題）」です。
create は「（神が）～を創造する」という意味ですので、神によって人間は平等に創られている、という意味です。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

我々の父祖たちは

brought forth
～を作り出した

on this continent,
この大陸に

a new nation,
新しい国家を

conceived in Liberty,
自由の中に着想され

そして

dedicated to
