■月曜日
今日、ある一人のお客が私の顔に唾を飛び散らせて怒鳴って罵った。さらに挙句の果てに『私の母が火事で死ねばいい』と言った。これは、私が彼女のミルクシェイクを彼女のルイ・ヴィトンのハンドバッグにがっつりこぼしてしまったからだ。どうやら、それは私の家賃よりも高いらしい。F*ck my life!
Today, a customer yelled and cursed at me, splashing spittle in my face, and to top it all off she wished “my mom would die in a fire.” All this because I accidentally spilled her milkshake all over her Louis Vuitton handbag. Apparently, it “costs more than my rent.” FML

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

その世界最大のサンゴ礁の生態系を管理しているグレートバリアリーフ海洋公園局による報告書は、気候変動による被害のためそのサンゴ礁の世界遺産登録を格下げするべきかどうかを国連代表団が査定する予定日の３日前に上がって来る。
The report by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Authority, which manages the world’s largest coral reef ecosystem, comes three days before a United Nations delegation is due to assess whether the reef’s World Heritage listing should be downgraded due to the ravages of climate change.

彼らを人種の違いのみで同年代・同能力の子供たちと引き離すことは、地域社会で自分たちの立ち位置に関しての劣等感を生み出す。それは彼らの心と頭に、後々取り返しがつかない形で影響を及ぼしかねない。
To separate children from others of similar age and qualifications solely because of their race generates a feeling of inferiority as to their status in the community that may affect their hearts and minds in a way unlikely ever to be undone.

日本の国土交通省によると、乗客を乗せた新幹線が脱線するのは今回で２回目となる。2004年10月に東京の北西に位置する新潟県で上越新幹線が地震により脱線した時以来だ。
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, it is the second derailment of a bullet train carrying passengers since October 2004 when an earthquake derailed a Joetsu Shinkansen in Niigata Prefecture, northwest of Tokyo.

ある晩、その『無限ホテル』は、完全に満室で、無限の数の宿泊客たちで埋まっています。ある一人の男性がやってきて部屋に泊まりたいと言います。」
Since there are an infinite number of rooms, there is a new room for each existing guest. This leaves room 1 open for the new customer. The process can be repeated for any finite number of new guests.
