この文章の直前で、もともとプレイボーイのシンボルマークは雄ジカ（stag）だったところ急遽ウサギに変更されたというエピソードが紹介されています。
when ～「～した時」
we got to the point of ～ で「わが社が～の地点に到達した」です。
get to the point of ～ で「～にまでこぎつける、～までたどり着く」という意味の言い回しです。
in 1960「1960年に」が挿入されて、
of opening the first Playboy Club… で「最初のプレイボーイクラブ開設に（至ったときに）」 です。

one of our executives suggested ～ で「わが社の幹部の一人が～を提案した」です。
executive で「幹部、重役」です。
the possibility of a bunny costume. で「バニーの衣装の可能性（を提案した）」です。

We tried it out, で「私たちはそれを試してみた」
try out ～ で「～を試してみる」です。
and ～「そして～」
I made some modifications で「わたしがいくつかの修正を行った」です。
make a modification で「修正を加える」です。
modification モディフィ[ケ]イション「修正」
動詞形は modify [モ]ディファイ「～を修正する、～を変更する」
-added the cuffs and the bow tie and collar- で「カフとボウタイと襟を加えた」です。
cuff は「袖口」です。カフスボタンでおなじみですね。
and the bunny was born. で「そしてそのバニーは誕生した。」です。
