Today, I took part in a charity run for a good cause. I’d trained for months and showed up, only to trip and fall flat on my face at the starting line. I spent the rest of the race with scraped knees and a bruised ego. FML
で「今日、慈善活動でチャリティーランに参加した。数か月もトレーニングしていざ出場したものの、スタートラインで躓いてバタンとうつ伏せに転ぶという結果になってしまった。その後のレースは、擦りむいた両膝と自尊心がボロボロの状態で過ごした。F*ck my life!」という意味になります。

I took part in a charity run for a good cause. で「私はチャリティーランに参加した、慈善活動のために」です。
take part in ～ で「～に参加する」という意味の句動詞です。
a charity run で「チャリティーラン、チャリティーのための徒競争（マラソン）」です。
for a good cause で「良い大義のために、大義名分のもとで」ですが、ここでは「チャリティーで、慈善事業で」という意味合いです。
cause には「理由、原因」という意味外にも「大義、理念」という意味もあります。
例：cause of freedom「自由という大義」

I’d trained for months で「私は数か月もとレーニングしてきた」です。
I had trained で大過去「（その時まで）してきていた」になっています。
for months で「何か月も」という意味のコロケーションです。
例：for years「何年も」、for weeks「何週間も」
and showed up, で「そして、姿を現した」です。
ここでの show up は「（授業や仕事などを休まずに）ちゃんと出る」という意味合いになります。
例：She caught cold and could not show up.「彼女は風邪をひいてお休みした。」

only to ～ で「でも結局～となってしまう」です。
trip and「つまづいて」
fall flat on my face「うつ伏せにバタンと転ぶ」という意味のコロケーションです。
「仰向けに倒れる」は「fall flat on my back」となります。
on my face は「顔の上に」ではなく「顔（表面）を下にして」です。
at the starting line. で「スタートラインで」

I spent the rest of the race で「私はそのレースの残りの時間を（～で）過ごした」
with scraped knees and a bruised ego. で「擦りむいたひざと、あざになった自尊心で」です。
scrape スクレイプで「（ごしごしこすって）～を擦りむく」です。 scraper で「（何かをそぎ落とすための）ヘラ、スクレーパー」という意味になります。
a bruised ego で「あざになったエゴ」です。
ego はイーゴゥと発音して「自尊心、自我、うぬぼれ」です。
bruise ブルーズは「～を傷つける、～にあざをつける」です。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
