今日は8月13日。お盆の入りの日です。
お盆＝Bon Festival について wikipedia の説明から引用してみました。

で「この仏教・儒教の風習は、家族の同窓会的な休日に進化してきており、その期間、人々は先祖代々の家族の場所に戻り、先祖の墓を訪れて清掃する。」という意味になります。

Buddhist は「仏教徒」という意味になります。
仏教は Buddhism ブーディズムですね。開祖ブッダが語源です。

Confucian は「儒教徒」です。
儒教は Confucianism となります。
こちらは開祖は孔子。「孔夫子」のラテン語名からできた言葉です。

evolve into ～ で「～に発展する、～に進化を遂げる」という意味になります。
evolve は「進化する、発展する」という意味の動詞です。
名詞形は evolution エヴァ[ル]ーション「進化」です。
例：evolve into different species「別の種へと進化する」、evolve into a full-scale conflict「全面戦争へと発展する」

family reunion holiday で「家族の同窓会的な休日」です。
reunion リユーニォンは「同窓会、再会、再結成」という意味の名詞です。
例：attend the class reunion「同窓会に出席する」

during which ～ は前置詞を伴った関係代名詞節です。
in which ～ や of which ～ などと同じ形ですね。

ancestor アンセスターは「先祖、祖先」です。
形容詞形は ancestral「先祖の」ですね。
例：commemoration of one’s ancestors「先祖を供養する」

grave グレイヴは「墓」です。
この季節毎年テレビ放映される「火垂るの墓」の英語版タイトルは Grave of the Fireflies といいます。
