名詞のお尻に「-like」を付けると、～のような、～状の　という意味にできます。
child-like「子供のような」
crystal-like「結晶状の」

in appearance は「外観上は」という意味です。
appearance の動詞形は appear 「現れる、～のように見える」です。

full maturity は完全な成熟、完全に大人になることです。
