で「ライト兄弟が最も良い例です。サミュエル・ピアポント・ラングレーについて知っている人は少ないでしょう。そして20世紀初頭の頃、人力飛行への探求は、今のドットコムのようなものでした。誰もがそれに挑んだのです。」という意味になります。

Nowhere else is there a better example than ～ で「～が最も良い例です」という意味の慣用句となります。
直訳すれば「～以上に良い例は他にない」となります。
ひとまとまりで覚えてしまいましょう。

Most people don’t know about Samuel Pierpont Langley. で「サミュエル・ピアポント・ラングレーについてほとんどの人が知らない」です。

And back in the early 20th century, で「そして20世紀初頭のその頃は」という意味です。
back in ～ で「（昔の）～の頃は、～に遡ってみると」という意味の言い回しです。
例：back in the day「昔々」
the early 20th century で「20世紀初頭」という意味になります。
逆に20世紀後半は、the late 20th century となります。

the pursuit of powered man flight was like the dot com of the day. で「人力飛行への探求は、今のドットコムのようなものだった」です。
the pursuit of powered man flight で「人力飛行の探求」です。
pursuit は「追い求めること、探求、追求」といういみの名詞です。
例：pursuit of a vision「理想の追求」
powered man flight は「人力飛行」でしたね。
was like the dot com of the day で「その当時のドットコムのようなものだった」です。
dot com はいわゆる「ドットコム事業、インターネット事業」のことです。
よくドットコムバブルなどと言ったりしますね。
of the day は「当時の、その頃の」という意味の言い回しです。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
