Today, a guest at my restaurant asked me what a tip was. I had to awkwardly explain to him that servers don’t make hourly wages, and we rely on tips from customers to make money. After I finished, he laughed at me, called me a sucker, and stiffed me on a $120 tab. FML
で「今日、レストランに来た客がチップとは何かと私に尋ねた。私はぎこちなく彼に説明しなければならなかった。時給が低いので、私たち接客係はお客様からのチップに頼っていると。私が説明し終えた後、彼は笑って、私をダメな奴だと言い、120ドルの勘定を払わなかった。F*ck my life!」という意味になります。

a guest at my restaurant asked me what a tip was. で「私のレストランのお客が私に尋ねた、チップとは何かと」です。
ask ～ what … で「～に…とは何かを尋ねる、聞く」です。
what a tip was は、
what was a tip「チップとは何か」が倒置した形です。
tip は「チップ、心付け」です。
発音（チップではなくティップというような感じ）に注意しましょう。
gratuity　グラ[チュ]ーイティとも言います。

I had to awkwardly explain to him that ～ で「私は～ということを彼に説明せねばならなかった」です。
awkwardly は「ぎこちなく、不器用に、野暮に、しどろもどろに」です。
形容詞形は awkward [オ]ークワードゥ で「不器用な、気まずい」です。
例：awkward manner「ぎこちない態度」、awkward silence「気まずい沈黙」

何を説明したかというと、
(that) servers don’t make hourly wages, and we rely on tips from customers to make money. で「給仕人は時給が良くない、だから私たちは稼ぐために客からのチップに頼っている」です。
server は「給仕人、接客係」です。
動詞形は serve サーヴで「給仕する、仕える」です。
make wages や make money は「金を儲ける、稼ぐ、収益を上げる」です。
wage は「（時間当たりの）賃金」です。
「労働に対する賃金」という見合いがあります。

and we rely on tips from customers to make money. で「だから私たちは客からのチップに頼っている、収益を上げるために」です。
rely リライは「頼る」です。
rely on ～ で「～に頼る、～に依存する」となります。

After I finished, he laughed at me, called me a sucker, and stiffed me on a $120 tab. で「説明し終えた後、彼は私を笑い、マヌケと呼び、120ドルの勘定でチップを支払わなかった」

After I finished で「私が終えた後」です。
finished (explaining)「（説明し）終える」ということです。

he laughed at me, called me a sucker, で「彼は私をあざ笑い、マヌケと呼んだ」です。
laugh at ～ で「～を笑う、あざ笑う」です。
call me a sucker で「私をマヌケと呼ぶ」です。
sucker は「マヌケ、あほ」という意味の悪口スラングです。

and stiffed me on a $120 tab で「$120の勘定を払ってくれなかった」です。
stiff は「こわばった、凝った」など。いろいろな意味がありますが、
今回は「（チップなどの）お金を出さない、料金を払わない」という意味になります。
stiff ～ on … で「～に…を払わない」となります。
例：I stiffed the taxi driver when I jumped out of his cab.「私は運転手にわざと金を払わずにタクシーを降りた。」
例：got stiffed on the bill「請求書の支払いをしてもらえない」
stiff は意図的に払わない、不正をする気で払わないという意味があります。
tab は「（レストランなどの）勘定書」です。
