で「人は子供のとき、大人と同じくらいに感情が深いと思う。寂しさ、憧れ、混乱、怒りなどを感じる能力はほぼ大人と同じくらいだ。（一方）私たち大人は年を取るつれて物事にあまり感じないようになる。」という意味になります。

スパイク・ジョーンズが監督した「かいじゅうたちのいるところ」という小さな子供が主人公の映画について聞かれている時の受け答えです。

as you’re growing up, で直訳すると「あなたが成長している時」ですが、この場合は「子供の時、成長期の時」という意味になります。
例：while growing up「子供のころ」、when I was growing up「わたしが子供のとき」
対して、grown-up で「大人、成人」ですね。
この場合の you は世間一般の人を指して「人、みんな」という意味合いです。

your emotions are just as deep as they are when you’re an adult. で「人の様々な感情は全く同じくらい深い、その人が大人になった時のそれと（同じくらい）」です。
deep emotion で「深い感情、強い感情」です。
just as ～ as … で「…とほぼ同じくらい～だ、…と全く変わらないくらい～だ」です。
何と同じくらいかというと、
they are when you’re an adult. で「大人になった時のその感情と同じくらい」です。
they は your emotions を指しています。

You’re ability to feel lonely, longing, confused or angry are just as deep. で「寂しさ、憧れ、困惑、怒りを感じる能力は大人とほぼ同じだ」です。
you’re ability の解釈がちょっとわからなかったのですが、your ability の間違いでしょうか。
feel lonely で「寂しく感じる」
feel longing は「憧れを感じる、強く欲しいと思う」
feel confused は「戸惑いを感じる、困惑を感じる」
feel angry 「怒りを感じる」ですね。

We don’t feel things more as we get older. で「（一方）私たち大人は年を取るほどあまり感じなくなる」です。
今までは主語が you だったのに、we に代わっているので「それに対して私たちは」という意味合いになります。

この文章だけだといまいち文脈が読めないと思うので、気になる人はインタビュー記事のほうも読んでみてください。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

人は子供の時

感情は同じくらいに深い

as they are when you’re an adult.
大人になった時のそれと同じくらいに
