Nature doesn’t need people – people need nature; nature would survive the extinction of the human being and go on just fine, but human culture, human beings, cannot survive without nature.
で「自然は人間を必要としない。だが人間には自然が必要だ。自然は人類が滅亡してもそれを乗り越え全く問題なく続いていく。しかし人間の文化、人類は自然なしには生き残れない。」という意味になります。

Nature doesn’t need people で「自然は人間を必要としない」です。
nature は「人の性質、性格、本性」という意味もありますが、この場合は単純に「自然」です。

– people need nature で「一方で、人間は自然を必要とする」です。

つまり、
nature would survive the extinction of the human being で「自然は人間の絶滅を乗り越えるだろう」です。
survive はサ[ヴァ]イヴは「生き残る、～を乗り越えて生き残る」です。
今回の文では、目的語をとって他動詞になっています。
extinction は「絶滅」という意味の名詞。
形容詞形は extinct イクス[ティ]ンクトゥ「死に絶えた」
動詞形は extinguish イクス[ティ]ングウィシュ「～を絶滅させる、火を消す」
extinction of the human being で「人類の絶滅」ですね。

and go on just fine, で「そして全く問題なく続いていく」です。
go on で「続く、存続する」という意味の句動詞です。
just fine は「とても元気に、ちゃんと、全く問題なく」です。

but human culture, human beings, cannot survive without nature. で「しかし人の文化・人類は、生き残れない、自然なしには」です。
human beings と複数形になって「（集合としての）人類」という意味合いですね。
