And instead of working alongside people they’ve known all their lives, now they are having to prove themselves in a crowd of strangers. So, quite understandably, qualities like magnetism and charisma suddenly come to seem really important.

で「そして、生まれてからずっと知り合いの人たちと共に行動する代わりに、今は、見ず知らずの人々の群れの中で自分の力量を示さなければならなくなってきている。まあ当然のことですが、人を引き付ける力やカリスマ性などの資質が突然とても重要に見られるようになっています。」という意味になります。

前回の文、
suddenly people are moving from small towns to the cities「人々は突然小さな村から都会へ移動する」の続きです。

And instead of working alongside people they’ve known all their lives で「そして～の代わりに、～な人々と一緒にやっていく、その人のことを生まれた時から知っている人々と」です。
instead of ～ で「～の代わりに」という意味の言いまわしです。
working alongside people (whom ～) で「～な人々と行動を共にすること」です。
instead of ～ の後には名詞が来るので、working と動名詞（gerund）になっています
work alongside ～ は「～と共に働く、一緒に働く、ともに行動する」という意味です。
alongside は「並列して、並んで一緒に」という意味合いです。
people (whom) they’ve known all their lives で「～な人々、彼らが前から知っている、全人生で」です。
意訳すれば「生まれた時からの知り合い」となります。
この they と their はどちらも「小さな町から都会へ移動していく人々」のことを指しています。
they’ve known (the people) で「その人々のことをすでに知っている」です。
all their lives は副詞句で「全人生で、一生を通じて、生まれてからずっと」という意味になります。

now they are having to prove themselves in a crowd of strangers. で「（～の代わりに）今は、自分の力量を示さなければならなくなってきている、見ず知らずの人たちの群れの中で」です。
be having to ～ で「～しなければならなくなってきてる」という意味です。
have to ～ の現在進行形ですね。
prove themselves で「自分を証明する」ですが、この場合は「自分の力量を示す」です。
in a crowd of strangers で「よそ者たちの群れの中で」です。
よそ者が集まっているのが都会ですね。

So, quite understandably, で「まあ当然のことですが」です。
understandably は「分かり切ったことだが、当然のことだが」という意味の副詞です。
quite は「全く、完全に」という意味合いです。

qualities like magnetism and charisma で「人を引き付ける力やカリスマ性などの資質」です。
quality は「品質」でおなじみですが、この場合は「人の資質、能力」という意味になります。
例：qualities of leadership「リーダーシップの能力」
magnetism マグネティズムは「磁力」ですが、この場合は「人を引き付ける魅力」という意味合いです。
例：magnetic personality「魅力ある人柄」、a magnetic brand「魅力的なブランド」

suddenly come to seem really important. で「突然、（～のように）見えてくる、とても重要に」です。
come to ～ で「～するようになる」という意味です。
例：come to feel that ～「～であると感じるようになる」

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

And instead of
そして～の代わりに

working alongside people
～な人々と一緒にやっていく（代わりに）

they’ve known
すでに知っている

all their lives,
生まれた時から

now they are having to prove themselves
今は自分の力を示さなければならなくなってきている

in a crowd of strangers.
