で「それは太陽を飲めと言うようなものです。それは完全に自我をゆがめ、捻じ曲げ、あの手に負えない、創作物への期待を創り出すのです。そしてそのプレッシャーが、この500年もの間、我々の芸術家たちを抹殺してきたのだと思うのです。」という意味になります。

It’s like asking somebody to swallow the sun. で「それは~のようなものだ、誰かに太陽を飲み込めと頼む(ような)」です。
it とは前回の文の、
自分自身がジーニアスであると考えること、ただの人間に神秘の受け皿になれという事ですね。
swallow は「~を飲み込む、丸呑みする、うのみにする」です。
名詞では「燕」という意味にもなります。

It just completely warps and distorts egos, で「それはまさに完全にエゴをゆがめて捻じ曲げる」です。
warp は「~をそらせる、ゆがめる」です。
時空を終えた瞬間移動を「ワープ」とも言いますが、これは空間を「歪める」ことから来ています。
distort warp に近い意味ですがこちらは「(正しい形状のものを)捻じ曲げる、ゆがめる」という意味です。
例:distort facts「真実をゆがめる」

and it creates all these unmanageable expectations about performance. で「そして、それは創り出す、あの全ての、扱いきれない期待を、業績についての」です。
all these unmanageable expectations は「あのすべての扱いきれない期待」です。
今まで話してきた、芸術家の創作物に対する世間からの期待のことです。
unmanageable は un- + manage + -able で「扱いきれない、手に負えない」となります。
performance はこの場合は「業績、成績、できばえ、性能」です。
例:performance of one’s business「事業の業績」

And I think ~「そして私は~だと思う」

the pressure of that has been killing off our artists で「そのプレッシャーが我々の芸術家たちを皆殺しにしてきた」です。
the pressure of that「そのプレッシャー」が主語になります。
kill off ~ で「~を全滅させる、皆殺しにする」という意味の句動詞です。
例:kill off cancer cells「がん細胞を全滅させる」

for the last 500 years. で「直近の500年の間」です。
last は「直近の、ここ最近の」です。
ルネサンス(14世紀~16世紀)以降ということですね。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
