で「金曜日、大坂なおみ氏は発言した。自分の人種間の平等への呼びかけがそこまで注目を集めるとは思ってもみなかったと。また、今週ニューヨークでの全米オープン前哨戦を一日中断させることになった自分の立場を表明したことが勇敢な行為だと言われたくないと。」という意味になります。

Naomi Osaka said (that) ～ で「大坂なおみ氏は～と発言した」です。

she never thought (that) ～ で「～だとは全く思ってなかったと」です。

her call for racial justice would garner the attention it did で「彼女の人種間平等を求める呼びかけがそんなにも注目を集める（とは）」です。
her call for racial justice が主語で「人種間の平等を求める呼びかけ」です。
call for ～ は動詞では「～を求める、要求する」という意味です。
ここでは名詞として「～を求める呼びかけ、要求」となります。
racial justice は「人種の公正、人種間の平等」という意味です。
racial レイショで「人種の、民族の」という意味の形容詞です。名詞形は race レイス「人種※皮膚や髪の色などの身体的特徴による人類の分類」です。
例：racial abuse「人種差別発言」、racial bias「人種による偏見」
garner the attention で「（世間の）注目を集める」です。
他にも、attract attention, や draw attention などとも言えます。
garner ～ は「～を集める、～を獲得する」という意味の動詞です。
例：garner a great deal of acclaim「多くの絶賛を受ける」
the attention (which) it did で「それが（実際にそこまで）集めた注目」です。

and she does not want to be called brave for taking a stand で「また彼女は～したいとは思わない、呼ばれたいとは、立場を表明したことが勇敢だとは」です。
don’t want to ～ で「～したくない、～したいと思わない」です。
be called brave で「勇敢だと言われる」です。
for taking a stand で「立場を表明することで」です。
take a stand で「姿勢を示す、態度を明確にする、立場を公言する」です。

that led to a one-day stoppage で「（そのことが）一日の中断を引き起こした」となります。
led は lead の過去形です。
lead to ～ で「～につながる、～の原因となる」です。
stoppage ス[タ]ッピジで「中断、停止」です。

at this week’s U.S. Open tune-up event in New York. で「今週の全米オープンの前哨戦での、ニューヨークでの」です。
tune-up event で「前哨戦」です。
例：tune-up match「調整試合」
