And the condor won, it was the most efficient. And mankind, the crown of creation, came in with a rather unimpressive showing about a third of the way down the list. But somebody there had the brilliance to test a human riding a bicycle, blew away the condor, all the way off the charts.

で「それでコンドルが最も効率的で一位でした。そして生物の頂点に君臨する人間はというと、かなりさえない成績で、上からだいたい3分の１くらいの順位でした。しかしそこで誰かが閃いて『自転車に乗った人』も測定したのです。すると、コンドルをぶち抜いて、ダントツの一位になったのです。」という意味になります。

And the condor won, で「そしてコンドルが勝った」です。
地球上の生物の移動の効率性を測定する科学雑誌企画での話です。
won は win「勝つ、勝利する、優勝する」の過去形。
it was the most efficient. で「コンドルが最も効率的だったのです」です。
ここでの定冠詞 the は【種族全体】をあらわす the です。
例：The whale is the largest animal.「クジラ（という生物種）は最も大きい動物である。」

And「そして」
mankind, the crown of creation, で「人類、生物の頂点たるもの」です。
mankind は「人間、人類」です。
性別フリーの表現では humankind とも言えます。
the crown of creation, は mankind を言い換えた同格の名詞句で「生物の王冠」つまり、生物の頂点という意味です。
creation は「（神の）創造物」で「地球上の生物」を意味します。
例：all creations on the earth「地球上のすべての生き物」

came in with a rather unimpressive showing で「～という成績で（順位に）入ってきた、かなり不出来な結果で」です。
come in with ～ で「～という成績になる、～で入賞する」という意味の言い回しです。
どんな成績かというと、
a rather unimpressive showing で「かなり風采の上がらない成果」です。
un-（否定の接頭辞） ＋ impressive「印象的な、目覚ましい、素晴らしい」
showing はここでは名詞で「成果、結果、出来栄え」という意味です。
例：make an excellent showing「優れた成果を出す」

about a third of ～ で「およそ～の３分の１」です。
about ～ は「だいたい～」
a third of ～ で「～の３分の１」という意味です。
a half of ～「～の半分、２分の１」、a fifth of ～「～の５分の１」
何の３分の一かというと、
(of) the way down the list で「そのリストを下って行って」です。
the way down the ～ は「～をまっすぐ行って」という意味の副詞句です。
例：walked all the way down the street「その通りをずっと先まで歩いた」
ここではつまり the list「順位リスト」を上位から３分の一くらい下ったあたり、という意味です。

But「しかし」
somebody there had the brilliance to ～ で「そこの誰かが才気を持っていた、それで～することになった」です。
つまり雑誌企画の編集者の誰かが、ということです。
have the brilliance to ～ で「才気があって、結果～することになった」です。
to 不定詞の【結果】の用法と考えられます。

何をしたかというと、
(to) test a human riding a bicycle, で「自転車に乗った人、をテストした」です。
a human riding a bicycle で「自転車に乗った人」という意味の名詞句になっています。

blew away the condor, で「コンドルを完全に打ち負かした」です。
blow away ～ で「～を吹き飛ばす」という意味から「～を完全に打ち負かす」という意味になります。
また「人を非常に感動させる」という意味でもよく使われます。
例：She was so beautiful I was blown away.「彼女があまりにも美しかったので私はすっかり虜になってしまった。」

all the way off the charts. で「チャートをぶっちぎって」です。
さっき出てきた the way down ～ と似た表現です。
all the way off ～ で「～を進んでいって最後には離れて（いってしまう）」というイメージです。
つまりヒットチャートどんどん上昇して１位を通り越して飛んで行ってしまうくらいの勢いです。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

コンドルが一番効率的でした

And mankind, the crown of creation,
そして人類は、生物の長たる人間は

came in with a rather unimpressive showing
かなり振るわない結果でランク入りしました
