アメリカ合衆国の飛行家であるチャールズ・リンドバーグの言葉です。

There is no better way to give comfort to an enemy than to divide the people of a nation over the issue of foreign war. There is no shorter road to defeat than by entering a war with inadequate preparation.

で「よその国との戦争について国民の意見が真っ二つに分かれることほど敵国を安心させる方法はない。準備不足のまま戦争に突入することは敗北への最短ルートだ。」という意味になります。

There is no better way to ～ than … で「…よりも～するための良い方法はない」です。
つまり「…が一番いい方法である」という意味の反語表現です。
何をするための方法かというと、
(way) to give comfort to an enemy で「敵に安心感を与えるための（方法）」です。
comfort は「慰め、慰安、安らぎ、快適さ」などという意味の名詞です。
例：a word of comfort「心地良い言葉」

than「～よりも」
to divide the people of a nation で「国民を分割すること」です。
the people of a nation で「国の人々、国の民」つまり「国民」です。
over the issue of foreign war. で「外国との戦争の問題について」です。
over ～ で「（議論や問題など）…について、～に関して」です。
foreign war は「外国での戦争」ではなく「外国との戦争、対外戦争」です。
つまり civil war「内戦」に対応する言葉です。

先ほどと同じ文型で、
There is no shorter road to defeat than … で「最短の敗北への道はない、～よりも」です。
road to defeat で「敗北への道」です。
defeat はここでは名詞で「敗北、負け」です。

than「～よりも」
by entering a war with inadequate preparation. で「戦争に突入することによって、不十分な準備で」です。
by ～ は road に対応して「～を通って、～を経由して」という意味です。
例：by an alternative trail「別の道を通って」、by a shortcut「近道をして」
by entering a war で「戦争に突入する（という道）」です。
with inadequate preparation. で「準備不足の状態で」です。
inadequate イ[ナ]ディクウィトゥは、 in-（否定）+ adequate [ア]ディクウィトゥ（十分な）です。
preparation は「準備」です。
動詞形は prepare プリ[ペ]ア「～を準備する」となります。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
